On October 31, Lasker concluded the University Lecture series with a talk at Emory University from David Allis, Joy and Jack Fishman Professor at The Rockefeller University. Allis presented recent data on the molecular analysis of histones – the proteins that package DNA within chromosomes – and emphasized how the identification of specific mutations in histone protein subdomains sets up the foundation for the development of novel therapeutics for pediatric cancers.
