Ingeborg Hochmair, founder and CEO of MED-EL Medical Electronics of Innsbruck, Austria, was honored with the 2013 Lasker~DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award for her part in the development of the modern cochlear implant, a device that restores hearing to individuals with profound deafness.
