David Huang delivered the 2024 Lasker~APSA Lecture at the annual joint meeting of the AAP/ASCI/APSA on April 6. Huang is the Associate Director and Director of Research of Casey Eye Institute, the Wold Family Endowed Chair in Ophthalmic Imaging, Professor of Ophthalmology and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Huang’s talk, titled “Seeing Small & Aiming Big,” focused on the development and clinical impact of optical coherence tomography (OCT), a technology that revolutionized ophthalmology—allowing rapid detection of diseases of the retina that impair vision. Huang was recognized along with his colleagues James Fujimoto and Eric Swanson for the invention of OCT with the 2023 Lasker~DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award.
